Good questions, straight answers

Your Questions, Answered

Do prices change once the job starts?

No. You approve one set price on-site before any work begins, and it holds even if the repair runs longer than we first thought. Anything genuinely separate, like a second failed section, is quoted on its own before we touch it.

Do nights, weekends or public holidays cost extra?

No. There is no after-hours loading and no holiday surcharge, so a 2am callout in a Bay Street apartment is priced the same way as a weekday one. The hour on the clock never changes the figure.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Never. The call-out is $0 and quotes are free, so a licensed plumber can look over the problem at no charge. You only commit once you approve the cost of the repair itself.

How do your quotes work?

A plumber sizes up the fault in person, then hands you one written figure covering the labour, the parts off the van and the testing that proves it holds. You approve it before we start, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

Can I check your plumbing licence?

Yes, and we would rather you did. We work under NSW Plumbing Licence #275278C, which is public and verifiable, and we will show it before starting. A licence you can check is the whole point of holding one.

Are you licensed and insured?

Both, fully. Every plumber we send is licensed for the work they do, and we carry public liability insurance, so your home and the repair are covered end to end. Gas work goes only to a plumber who holds a gas ticket.

Who is responsible for a blocked sewer, me or the water authority?

The line splits at your property boundary. Everything from the house to the boundary is yours to keep clear, while the main out in the street belongs to the water authority. If a blockage sits on their side, we tell you plainly rather than bill you for it.

What is safe to try myself before you arrive?

Shut the water off at the meter if something is flowing, and for a burst hose turn the small isolation tap under the vanity. Keep clear of any sagging ceiling and stay off flooded areas near power. Beyond that, leave it to us and call.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

Anything you cannot safely stop or live without until morning: a burst pipe, a sewer backing up, the smell of gas, or a house left with no water and no working toilet. If you are unsure, ring and describe it, and we will say honestly whether it can wait.

How does the callback form work?

Leave your details on the contact page and a licensed plumber rings you back, not an automated system. It suits a booking that is not urgent; for anything active, the phone is faster.

Are you really open 24/7?

Yes, every hour of every day, weekends and public holidays included. Emergency work is the job, not a sideline, so the phones and vans stay staffed overnight rather than diverting to a message bank.

How fast can you get here?

Often within the hour, because the vans run stocked and ready across the Eastern Suburbs. You will be given a realistic time frame when you ring, not a figure chosen to impress.

Which suburbs do you service?

Double Bay and the suburbs around it: Bellevue Hill, Edgecliff, Woollahra, Rose Bay and Dover Heights, plus the neighbouring Eastern-Suburbs streets. On the edge and unsure? A quick call settles it.

Do tree roots really block drains around Double Bay?

Often, yes. The leafy streets and old gardens behind the village sit over earthenware clay drains a century old, and roots find every cracked joint. We clear the blockage, then send a camera down to see whether it's roots, a fracture or a full collapse.

What does heavy rain do to Double Bay's plumbing?

The low foreshore around the bay and Blackburn Cove can surcharge in a downpour, backing stormwater up into gully traps and lower properties. Salt in the harbour air is the slower problem, corroding exposed fittings over the years. Both are worth sorting before they become a 2am call.

Do you work on Double Bay's apartments and strata blocks?

Constantly, since most homes here are flats. In a block we shut a burst down fast, then work out which pipework is the unit's and which is common property before any cost is discussed. That keeps the bill with the right party.
